Tamar River Sailing Club is a small friendly family club situated on the sunny Devon banks of the River Tamar. We have easy access to the open sea as Plymouth Sound and distant horizons are only a short sail away.

The Club has much to offer. We are an RYA recognised training centre and we are able to provide our members with a variety of sail and power courses.

Our 250 members enjoy the use of an extensive quay, two slipways, an all tide pontoon, over 50 moorings and a comfortable clubhouse. I believe our facilities and location are second to none. The clubhouse is also available to hire at a very reasonable rate.

Racing for yachts takes place on Mondays in the spring and summer and on Saturdays in the autumn and winter. Dinghies race on Wednesday evenings. The expanding Cadet section meet on Friday nights in the spring and summer and benefit from the use of Club owned Topper, Pico, Feva , Laser and RS Vision dinghies. The Club hosts two well supported Regattas during the summer months, one for yachts and one for dinghies.

We have a varied and exciting year ahead with a busy social calendar, both ashore and afloat. Visitors and prospective members are always very welcome when the Club is open and I look forward to seeing you all.

Southampton Boat Show - Honda Rib Challenge Final

Don’t forget if you are plannning a trip to to the show our man Jordan will be competing in the national final on Sunday 12th September.
Mike and Elizabeth at Plymouth Powerboat School have kindly offered Jordan a little bit of coaching in preparation fro the event, which will include competitors from all over the British Isles, and one or two overseas clubs.
So if you are going at the weekend, make sure its Sunday 12th so you can cheer Jordan on.

Once again the joint TRSC SSC regatta was a great success with IRC, PYA & PYB fleets. In addition to the close racing a entertainment was enjoyed by members on both sides of the river. Apart from a lull on Sunday morning the racing was eventful.

We are most grateful to DBC Foodservice Ltd and Bright LLP solicitors for their very generous sponsorship and also to Mountbatten Boathouse and Ullman Sails for providing much appreciated additional prizes

Many thanks also to all our volunteers in the race managment and powerboat teams without which the event wouldn’t take place.

Victory by half a second

Two young club members competed in the Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship heat in Falmouth
In the 8-12yrs group Oliver Holdsworth for TRSC came very close to getting a place. In the 13-16yrs age group, by half a second, Jordan Hanley for TRSC won the day.
Jordan will now go forward to the National Championship to be held at the Southampton Boat Show in September. Here he stands a chance to win for the club a 5m Ribcraft RIB with a Honda 60hp engine.

Oliver and Jordan represented the club at the regional heat of the Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship in Falmouth on 19th June.

They acheived the fastest times from a field of 7 young club members competing in the club heat on Sunday 13th June.
The competition is a mixture of speed, manouverability and slow speed control, carried out under the watchful eye of our Powerboat Instructors. If successful the winners may go on to the national final and have the chance to win their club a Ribcraft rib and associated equipment.

Thanks to Mark, Denis, Julie, Adrian, Peter & Richard for giving up their time on this busy weekend.

The slalom didn’t provide much difficulty once the basic steering and speed controls had been mastered. The stop to pick up the polo mint from the stick provided a few challenges though.

The regional heat takes place at the Royal Corwall Yacht Club in Falmouth, with the National Final taking place at the Southampton Boat Show in September.
