Tamar River Sailing Club is a small friendly family club situated on the sunny Devon banks of the River Tamar. We have easy access to the open sea as Plymouth Sound and distant horizons are only a short sail away.

The Club has much to offer. We are an RYA recognised training centre and we are able to provide our members with a variety of sail and power courses.

Nick Head, Commodore

Our 250 members enjoy the use of an extensive quay, two slipways, an all tide pontoon, over 50 moorings and a comfortable clubhouse. I believe our facilities and location are second to none. The clubhouse is also available to hire at a very reasonable rate.

Racing for yachts takes place on Mondays in the spring and summer and on Saturdays in the autumn and winter. Dinghies race on Wednesday evenings. The expanding Cadet section meet on Friday nights in the spring and summer and benefit from the use of Club owned Topper, Pico, Feva , Laser and RS Vision dinghies. The Club hosts two well supported Regattas during the summer months, one for yachts and one for dinghies.

We have a varied and exciting year ahead with a busy social calendar, both ashore and afloat. Visitors and prospective members are always very welcome when the Club is open and I look forward to seeing you all.

Dean, Chelsea, Sam & Adam represented the club at Mountbatten on Sat May 5th, for the chance to go to Southampton for the National final, and win a Rib for the club. Sadly they were not placed, but as your truly was appointed one of two time keepers, we were placed in a car in QAB overlooking the course and start line, so I lived and died with all the contestant’s valliant efforts!

Times were variable in the opening stages, with the younger age group lagging understanderbly behind their elder peers. One or two contestanst then started to set fast times and it is said that 90 seconds is the target to get a placing at the regional level. The coures includes a right angled slalom, “man overboard” stop & pickup ring, and 360 reverse round a bouy. However you have to carve another 20 seconds or so off that to get a look in at the national level.

Lympstone SC won both the age ranges, but well done our cadets for taking part, you did us credit.

Many thanks to Alastair of All Marine Engineering services for sponsoring our club heat event.

The Club Heat took place in iteresting tidal conditions , a sharp breeze and intermittent drizzle. Test timing runs were made before lunch, and these had to stand as the flood water added to the ebb tide combined to rip the slalom anchors out of the river. 6 members took part, and the winnwers were:-
